About

TIm CurrieTim Currie is an instructor in the School of Journalism at the University of King's College in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

I have BA in history and political science from Queen's University (1988). I graduated from the University of King's College with a Bachelor of Journalism in 1992 and worked at a number of media organizations after that. I have taught the online journalism stream at the University of King's College since 1999. My primary job is teaching a series of six-week workshops in online journalism to senior students. They are an exercise reporting for, editing and producing a prototype news site called NovaNewsNet. I also teach classes in Internet research, online writing, issues in online journalism and the history of online journalism.

This project was in partial fulfilment of requirements for a master of arts degree in communications and technology at the University of Alberta.

While a thematic element of this project concerns online writing, I initially wrote this paper in academic style for print publication. I have adapted the final paper slightly for an online audience. But this project is not written in the online style recommended by the sources I have referenced.
